ASHLAND’S CLEAN ENERGY FUTURE:
A BALANCED, COST-NEUTRAL APPROACH
Transitioning to a clean energy future in Ashland will require a combination of increased fuel-switching, clean
renewable energy sourcing, and efficiency. Taking this three-pronged approach will allow the electric utility to offset
potential revenue losses from efficiency and off-grid electrical consumption with new revenues from switching gas-
fueled cars and natural gas-heated homes to electric vehicles and electricity-heated homes. Through this strategy,
Ashland will be able to lower its overall energy consumption, costs, and associated emissions.
