Corbett Njnanya Boyd Desha S. Powell Please accept my sincere gratitude to you for making a generous donation to the Ivanna Eudora Kean High School (IEKHS) in the amount of $20,000.00. As the new principal assigned to the Ivanna Eudora Kean this school year, I readily identified areas in which students could benefit tremendously. However, I struggled to provide these services to students because the resources were just so limited. At the time of your unsolicited donation, the school was in dire need of funds to support the following programs/initiatives: > New Engineering Academy Pathway > New Computer Application Pathway > Saturday Junior Academy to increase low standardized test scores > Smarter Balanced Proficiency Awards > Intervention Services (Individual & Group Counseling) > Professional Instruments for the Music Department Though the need for funding to implement said programs/initiatives still exist, I deeply regret to inform you that I have to return the funds as per the directive of my immediate supervisor, Insular Superintendent, Dionne Wells-Hedrington. Ergo, enclosed is a check in the amount of $20,000.00 from the Ivanna Eudora Kean High School. Unfortunately, the return of these funds also translates to the aforementioned services being discontinued or unimplemented. Considering the donation was made at the end of the calendar year, please accept my apology if returning this money now causes inconsistencies with your tax filings. While my predecessor was allowed to accept donations on behalf of Ivanna Eudora Kean High School from Southern Trust Inc. in the past, due to circumstances beyond my control, I cannot accept donations from your corporation at this time. I still however, would like to thank you for all of the years you made substantial contributions towards improving student life, supporting our instructional programs and providing opportunities for our athletes and musicians.
