A detailed look at
promising agri
deep-tech domains3
Agri deep-tech use cases typically
draw on distinct technology domains,
each with a unique applicability and
transformative potential.
Several technology domains converge to produce
agri deep-tech use cases that could unlock
breakthroughs in the sector. This section explores seven such domains. The Annexe details the
methodology for shortlisting these domains.
GenAI is a subset of AI that generates new and
original data/content by analysing pre-existing
datasets.17 The generated content can take various
forms, including text, video and audio, which are
created in response to a prompt/query. GenAI has
farmer-facing use cases, including customized
advice for crop management, generation of a
hyperlocal package of practices or predicting
market prices. When combined with natural
language processing, GenAI can interface effectively with farmers, providing quick and scientific
resolutions to queries, and can also facilitate the
development of autonomous agentic AI systems
for farm management.18 Use cases extend beyond
farmers as end users. For instance, GenAI can
support the development of macro crop plans for
governments, simulate climate risks for businesses
and accelerate the development of new crop
varieties (by identifying desirable genes or predicting
gene-editing outcomes).3.1 Generative AI
