Portland Neighborhood Urged to Share Surveillance Footage as Manhunt Continues for Gunman Who Shot Two Officers Crime & Courts By Lucille McNamara On Jan 21, 2026 Suspect - Portland Police Bureau Photo PORTLAND, Ore. — The Portland Police Bureau (PPB) is appealing to the public who live in the Sullivan’s Gulch Neighborhood, and who have surveillance cameras at their homes, to assist them in the search for a white male who shot and injured two police officers on Monday. The search is focused on and around Northeast 15 th Avenue to Northeast 19 th Avenue, and Northeast Broadway to Northeast Multnomah Street. Residents Are Asked to Upload Surveillance Camera Footage Residents living in this area are asked to upload all videos of surveillance systems from 7 a.m. on January 19 to 7 a.m. on January 20 to this website . The PPB appeals to the public to upload raw footage and not to edit, enhance, or alter the tapes. Footage must be in standard file format. The shooting occurred when North Precinct police officers received a report at 8.21 p.m. on Monday in the area of Northeast 21 st Avenue and Northeast Clackamas Street. On arrival, the officers located the suspect on Northeast Clackamas Street, between Northeast 16 th Avenue and Northeast 17 th Avenue. However, the suspect fled the scene on foot after opening fire and striking two officers. Multi-Task Law Enforcement Units Joined the Search for a Caucasian Male in His Mid-30s The PPB immediately set up a perimeter containment area, assisted by the Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT), the Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT), the Air Support Unit, the PPB Unmanned Aircraft Systems Unit, and K9, but failed to flush out the suspect. The two officers were transported to the hospital by ambulance. The suspect is described as a Caucasian male in his mid-30s, with black facial hair. He was wearing black shoes, black pants, a black jacket over a gray-hooded sweatshirt, and a black baseball cap. One of the Two Police Officers Shot During the Incident Has Been Released From the Hospital While the search for the suspect continues PPB has announced that one of the officers injured during the shooting on Monday night, has been released from the hospital. He is a seven-year PPB veteran assigned to the North Precinct. The second officer remains in the hospital and said to be in a stable condition. He is a 17-year PPB veteran, also assigned to the North Precinct.
