The Lakers are ranked sixth in the state coaches' poll. The Grizzlies outscored Lakeridge 37-19 in the first half, were themselves outscored 37-19 in the second half, then won the overtime, 10-7. Ashland coach Steve Humann, in his second year, characterized it as one of the Grizzlies' biggest wins. Led by reigning Class 4A player of the year Jillian Harmon, who scored 27 points, the Lakers pressed Ashland from the start. But the Grizzlies handled it with aplomb. "We kept beating them on the press," said Humann. "We ran the offense very well in the first half." In overtime, Hilary Huyett sealed the victory with a pair of free throws. Huyett and Alysse Carlson each scored 16 points for the Grizzlies. Jamie Roupp added 13 points and Abeni Hill added 11. Ashland faces either Thurston or Crescent Valley today. Southern Oregon 76, Pacific Union 56 ANGWIN, Calif. - Southern Oregon men's basketball team snapped a four-game losing skid with a 76-56 triumph at NAIA non-conference rival Pacific Union this afternoon. Sophomore forward Shea Washington led all players, with 20 points and eight rebounds, while sophomore guard Peter Nelson tallied 13 points and freshman center Jay Mayernik added 10 points and seven boards. SOU (4-6) shot 49-percent for the game, outrebounded the Pioneers (3-6) 44-19 and staked a 44-15 halftime edge. The Raiders face No. 24 Dominican University in San Rafael on Saturday. Notre Dame de Namur 67, Southern Oregon 53 KLAMATH FALLS - Notre Dame de Namur broke open a 31-30 halftime edge with a 12-0 run to start the second half in a first-round win at the Oregon Tech Classic. Lindsey Hilaire led SOU (1-4) with 14 points, while Emily Brough added 11 points and a game-high 12 rebounds - nine on the offensive end.
