Take away all of the trappings of what is considered Christmas and people readily agree there is no Christmas. How then can there be a belief that Christmas is anything other than superficialities? Even those who openly profess Christmas is about the birth of a Savior cannot bring themselves to dispense with the relatively new traditions inherent in the "Christmas Commodity." It reminds me of people who smoke or indulge in drugs or too much drinking. Ask any of these folk if they can quit and they will assure you they can, even though the reality is most cannot. And the same principle applies to the Christmas Commodity Consumers . Without the superficial trappings, the CCC cannot fathom what they would do this time of year. For them it is unthinkable to dispense with the traditions upon which they have grown and become accustomed … regardless of what the actual origin or truth of such traditions may mean. And it is in Acts Two and Three that Jackson establishes, and then ratchets up the attraction between this huge, ugly monolith of a beast, Kong, and the beautiful, fragile Darrow. It’s what has always made this film so compelling. The script even includes a ricocheting reference to Joseph Conrad’s “Heart of Darkness.” But ultimately “King Kong” is not about a journey into the heart of darkness, but one that follows a trajectory straight to that place in the human heart that allows us to care. Youngster develops flute skills early By the looks of his room, Chris Peterson has much in common with other 11 year old boys. Basketball, soccer, football trophies line a windowsill, pictures of wolves grace the walls. What Chris doesn’t share with most 11 year olds is his talent for playing the Native American flute. Not only can he play a song once he hears it, he is self-taught, creates his own music and plays intuitively, bringing joy and often healing to others.
