Pacific Hwy. in Talent, from 5 to 7 p.m. today. Community members can tour the fire station and talk with firefighters. The staff will also have the fire prevention trailer at the station to educate children. Refreshments, including hot dogs, cookies and drinks, will also be served. SOU graduate fair Southern Oregon University is offering students and the community face-to-face information about attending graduate school and graduate programs during the SOU Graduate Education Information Fair on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the lobby of the Stevenson Union. Representatives from many Northwest universities will be available to give information about their graduate programs, including: • Oregon Health and Science University School of Nursing: Family Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner; • Pacific University: Dental Hygiene, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, Optometry, Professional Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Education, Physician Assistant Studies; • Portland State University: Graduate School of Social Work Distance Graduate Education Option, located on the SOU campus; • University of Oregon Law School: Masters in Appropriate Dispute Resolution; • University of Oregon School of Music; • Willamette School of Education: Master of Arts in Teaching; • Willamette University College of Law; • Willamette University MBA. Southern Oregon University programs that will be accessible at the graduate education fair include: • Master in Applied Psychology — Organizational training and Development, Human Services, and Mental Health Counseling; • Master in Management; • Master of Arts in Teaching, MA or MS (Special Education), and endorsement programs in Reading and Education; • Masters of Environmental Education; • Master in Computer Science. Dr. Dee Southard, director of the SOU Ronald E. McNair Post Baccalaureate Achievement Program, will give a presentation “So you want to go to graduate school: Things you need to know,” in the Rogue River Room of the Stevenson Union from noon to 1 p.m. This lecture is intended to provide information for undergraduate students and others who might be considering a graduate school education. Southard will describe graduate programs, the application and selection process for graduate school, funding sources for graduate school, and an overall preparation time line.
