Police: Ashland man arrested with 5 pounds of pot in Idaho Curtis VanDeVooren charged with felony drug trafficking Archive By Daily Tidings Editorial Board On Feb 8, 2012 Last updated Mar 13, 2024 Posted: 2:00 AM February 08, 2012 A 50-year-old Ashland man was arrested Sunday in Idaho on charges of drug trafficking after police found nearly 5 pounds of marijuana in his car. Curtis VanDeVooren, 50, was charged with felony drug trafficking and lodged in the Payette County Jail. An Idaho State Police trooper stopped VanDeVooren in a red 1992 Subaru Outback at 8:50 p.m. for an equipment violation at milepost 16 on eastbound Interstate 84 in Payette County, according to an ISP news release. During the traffic stop, VanDeVooren told police that he was a registered marijuana cardholder from Oregon, and that he possessed between 3 and 4 pounds of marijuana for personal use. During a search of the vehicle, police found about 5 pounds of marijuana in several large sealed plastic bags as well as drug paraphernalia. The marijuana had an estimated value of $12,000.
