--> --> April 26: Women's football kicks off Saturday in Ashland Ashland Daily Tidings The Oregon Thunder will host the first women's full tackle football game in Southern Oregon history at noon Saturday at Ashland High's Phillips Field. The Thunder is a member of the Independent Women's Football League. Founded in 2000 in Austin, Texas, the IWFL currently has 19 member teams located in cities across the nation. Oregon IWFL teams include the Corvallis Pride, Eugene Edge and the Thunder. The Thunder will play six games as they compete to earn a spot in the first ever IWFL playoffs, to be held in June.
