--> --> County property tax bills going out soon Ashland Daily Tidings It's tax time again. Jackson County property tax bills will be sent out the week of Oct. 22. Property owners are encouraged to mail in their payment in the return envelope that is provided with their bill, as well as send checks in early. Payments must be postmarked no later than Nov. 15 in order to receive a discount and avoid paying interest. Payments can also be dropped off at any Jackson County branch of Umpqua Bank. This is a drop-off location only, and receipts will not be issued by the banks. The canceled check returned with the property owner's checking statement will constitute a receipt. The county's payment center is located at the back of the Jackson County Courthouse, 10. S. Oakdale Ave., in Medford. The office will have extended hours during tax time: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Oct. 25 to Nov. 15. In addition, a walk-up window is located outside the payment center with the same hours as inside. Monday, Nov. 12 is Veteran's Day, and all county offices will be closed. A drop-off box is available 24-hours a day. The property tax bills are also color coded. A green bill means the property owners are responsible for paying the bill themselves while a yellow bill means that a mortgage company has requested the bill and what the owner receives is just a copy. Property owners who do not receive their tax bill by Nov. 1 should call the Jackson County Payment Center and tax office at (541) 774-6541. Email your...
