--> --> SOU men lose seventh straight in overtime Ashland Daily Tidings PORTLAND - The Southern Oregon University men's basketball team was outscored 12-4 in overtime Saturday in a 79-71 loss to Cascade College. The loss, SOU's seventh straight, dropped the Raiders to 0-4 in the Cascade Conference and 4-10 overall, while the Thunderbirds improved to 1-2 and 9-7. The Raiders led 36-32 at the half, but were outscored 35-31 in the second half by a Cascade team that had lost two in a row by double digit margins. Hamilton Barnes scored a team-high 23 points on 8 of 15 shooting to lead SOU, which also got 18 points and four assists from Jeff Tacheny. Thunderbirds' guard Will Walker led all scorers with 25 points. The Raiders were outshot 44 percent to 60 percent in the first half but made up for it by getting up 12 more shots than the Thunderbirds and making 5 of 11 3-pointers. Cascade continued its hot shooting in the second half, hitting 18 of 32 (56 percent) field goals while SOU made just 14 of 37 (38 percent), including 3 of 16 from beyond the arc. The Thunderbirds outrebounded SOU 37-34 and shot 10 more free throws than the Raiders. Cascade was 15 of 24 from the charity stripe while SOU hit 7 of 14. The loss wrapped up a three-game road trip for the Raiders, who return to McNeal Pavilion Saturday night to play rival Oregon Tech. Oregon Tech is currently 12-4 overall, 3-1 in the conference play, good enough for third place after an 88-74 loss to at Warner Pacific Friday.
