High school seniors ready to battle for scholarship in Pear Blossom Pageant As the Pear Blossom Festival rolls around, nine eager Jackson County high school seniors will compete in this year's 12th Annual Senior Royalty Scholarship Pageant. Reader note In an effort to better serve readers and groups that solicit the Daily Tidings for publicity, the newspaper offers the following tips: Public Safety Ashland Police & Fire Talent police Phoenix police Oregon State Police Community Notes · CPR CLASSES will be taught by Ashland Fire and Rescue from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Ashland Nazarene Church. The free classes will teach how to help adult victims of choking and sudden cardiac arrest. For more information, call 482-2770. · GIRL SCOUTS' GARAGE SALE AND FUNDRAISER will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Briscoe Elementary School. Furniture, clothing, books, toys, electronics and household items will be available. All proceeds go toward the troop's trips and activities. · SOCCER CAMP for kids ages 11-14 will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Grove. Cost is $5 per person. Fundamentals will be taught, and prizes and snacks will be provided. · ARTS COUNCIL OF SOUTHERN OREGON SEEKS NEW AIS ARTISTS to work with children in school and community settings. Artists in School (AIS) will work with children for one to two weeks teaching visual, literary, and performing arts, and will often include a performance or exhibit of the artist's work. Help will be offered from 9 a.m. to noon Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursdays at Pioneer Hall, 73 Winburn Way in Ashland; from 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesdays at Talent Library, 105 N.
