Designs sought for 4th of July T-shirt Tuesday Mar 21, 2017 at 2:09 PM Local report The Ashland Chamber of Commerce and Fourth of July Committee are seeking artwork to be used in the design of this year's Fourth of July T-Shirt. The theme for this year's event is "Together We Sing!" The deadline for submissions is April 10. In announcing the event, the sponsors released this statement: "This year, we are honoring our community and collaborative spirit that makes Ashland such a special place. As we gather together to celebrate the 4th of July in Ashland, raise your voices whether you are singing for joy, community spirit, America or Independence Day, join the parade with your friends and celebrate — Together We Sing!" The announcement noted that men and women who are veterans or are currently in the armed forces will be recognized as the parade's 2017 grand marshal and are invited to walk in the parade with their appropriate branch of the military. More information on participating and where to line up will be announced on the chamber's website, www.ashlandchamber.com/4thofJuly, in June. The deadline for submitting artwork for the T-shirt contest is 3 p.m. Monday, April 10.  Submissions may be sent to: Ashland's 4th of July Committee, P.O. Box 1360, Ashland OR 97520, delivered to the chamber office at 110 E. Main St. or emailed to [email protected]. For questions about the contest, call Frantz at 541-482-3486, ext. 104. The 4th of July Committee, consisting of community volunteers, will select the winning design. The winning design will be featured on the event T-shirts and in print and digital publicity and all entries will be displayed on the chamber website with the artist's name. Grand prize in the T-shirt contest is $250 in cash, two T-shirts showcasing the design and special VIP Seating for two on the bleachers in front of Zoey's to watch the Fourth of July Parade. Second place is  $100.
