--> --> Johns shoots an opening round 82 at state meet Ashland Daily Tidings CORVALLIS - Freshman Stephanie Johns fired a round of 82 to lead the Ashland High girls in Day 1 of the two-day Class 4A state golf meet Monday at Trysting Tree Golf Club. Johns' score put her in a three-way tie for 12th place, eight strokes behind the leader, Amy Mombert (74) of Bend. Heading into Round 2, the Lava Bears had three players in the top-seven, a combined score of 319 and a 14-stroke lead on second-place Lakeridge (333). Ashland ended the day with a team score of 397, good enough for 16th place in the 18-team field. Fellow Southern Oregon Conference team Roseburg finished the day in ninth place with a 371. The Grizzlies were set to tee-off Round 2 today at 9:36 a.m. After Johns, the Grizzlies got a round of 90 out of Bianca Montagnino, a 103 out of Kelly Thompson and Emiko Kimura carded a 122.
