Schools Denise Baratta An Ashland school classroom. Ashland School District Seven schools open their doors to Ashland's youth each September, providing a comprehensive education in all grade levels. Nearly 3,440 students attend the Ashland School District's high school, middle school and five elementary schools. Over 400 full-time and part-time teachers, support staff and administrators provide instructional programs. Despite its share of funding problems, Ashland strives to maintain and develop personalized, continuous and progressive programs for students in literature, writing, science, math, social science, fine arts, health and physical education. Schools within the district also strive to provide a high-quality curriculum that incorporates the arts through theater, dance and music. The district's partnerships with the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and Southern Oregon University are especially important, as are its partnerships with community businesses such as the Rogue Federal Credit Union and Lithia Springs Rotary. Students in Ashland's schools out-perform most others in the state and have a high academic rating on the national level. Students can also enroll in Ashland High School's technical programs, including computer science and metal fabrication. Its school-to-work program prepares students for the work environment in Ashland and beyond. Student leadership, athletics, debate, journalism and other co-curricular activities are available to students.
