Daily Tidings Daily Tidings facebook twitter Oregon Ducks Bounce Back After a 38-24 Domination Over Washington State Football Game Highlights By Kris Henry on October 22, 2023 Let’s not kid ourselves; the Ducks’ loss to Washington last week was devastating for fans, and although this doesn’t mean they won’t win the playoffs, no one likes to see their favorite team lose. Thankfully, Ducks fans got quite the treat after the team in green bounced back with a dominating win over the Washington State Cougars, finishing the game with a score of 38-24. Washington State vs #9 Oregon Football Game Highlights 10 21 2023 One of the keys to this big win was thanks to Oregon’s defense. Pretty much every single receiver on Washington State’s side was brought down by a Duck, leaving them unable to cross that finish line multiple times. We also have to take a look at the offense. They struggled at first, but soon got their game down pat and committed themselves to running the ball to trip up the Cougars. Evidently, it worked like a charm. Part of the difficulty was being unable to put the pressure on Cougars QB Cameron Ward during the first half, but they got it down in the end, as Ward got sacked a total of 6 times and their offense really began to stall. RB Bucky Irving really stole the show and was a fan favorite this game. 15 carries, 129 yards, 3 TDs, and 51 yards overall. Unfortunately our man got hurt during the 4th quarter, but his impact on the game was huge, and we’re hoping he’ll be well enough to play the next game. There’s no doubt the team will need him. Bo Nix did pretty well as per usual, giving us an 18/25, 293 yards, and 3 TDs. I have to also shout out Tez Johnson, who bagged us another TD, had 6 catches, and a total of 94 yards. Jordan James was in there as well with 13 carries and 103 yards, but I also have to point out Evan Williams, who got 8 solo tackles, 6 assists, and 1 sack. So, what’s next? Well, the Ducks are going to be hitting the road down to Utah to battle the Utes. It’ll take place in Rice-Ecceles stadium. Due to the Utes’ QB, Cam Rising, being out all year and unlikely to return by Saturday, we’re looking at a win, but the Ducks should still be on their toes. The Utes are a serious team even without their QB, and the Ducks can’t afford another loss.
