Both the men's and women's eight took gold medals in the masters division. Rowing in the women's eight were Beth Hoffman (cox), Judith Cope, Marie Maretska, Diana Fairbanks, Paula Backus, Cathy Tronquet, Toni Knox, Laura Young, and Michele Bashaw. Rowing for the men were Hoffman (cox), Phil Benedetti, Andy Baxter, Steve Kiesling, Mike Skibinski, Don Dammann, Phil Michael, Scott Knox, and Randy Krant. Kiesling, Baxter, Dammann, and Krant (Lesley Klecan, cox) also teamed up to take the gold in the men's four. Lesley Klecan was a double winner, taking gold in the women's single sculls and teaming up with Judy Oursler to take gold in the women's double sculls. Silver medalists for Ashland were Scott Knox in the men's single sculls; Diane Green, Corinne Lombardi, Beth Geismar, and Judith Cope (Carnival, cox) in the women's four; Carl Prufer, Dan Hirsch, Bill Kirkman and Joe Lusa (Karen Carnival, cox) in the men's four; and Bashaw (cox), Hirsch, Dave Johnson, Cindy McLaughlin, Sue Naumes, Prufer, Ron Iverson, and Karen Wennlund in the mixed eight. In the first heat of the women's four, Diana Fairbanks, Katie Latham, Jennifer Stoke, and Judy Oursler garnered a bronze medal despite an equipment failure that left them with three rowers for the final 250 meters. Phil Benedetti teamed with Robert Lombardi to take third in the men's double sculls. The Ashland High team competed strongly in four events, with Natalie Jeblonski, Ashleigh Clement, Liz DeGraft and Stevi Sayler (Kelly Lombardi, cox) taking third place in the junior lightweight four.
