The obviously sincere college age person rattled off a list of issues that, he believed, would be addressed by Larouche if we could only get him on the ballot. Cure world hunger? Elect Larouche. Create full employment? Elect Larouche. Pretty much any issue you might want addressed, regardless of one's position on the political spectrum would be dealt with, if only we can get Larouche on the ballot and into the White House. I left that encounter shocked and shaken. How could these well meaning kids believe that Larouche, a Totalitarian Facist by the textbook definition of those terms, offer anything but the pain, destruction, and dissolution of human rights, dignity, and opportunity guaranteed to follow upon the installation of a neo-Nazi demagogue into a position of power. I suppose they are simply ignorant. Here's a quick history: In the 60s he was a leftist radical preaching socialist revolution as a Communist. In the 70s he swung to the right developing relationships with Liberty Lobby, KKK, John Birch Society, and Young Americans for Freedom, the 80s found Larouche building an international intelligence gathering organization and facing grand juries and eventual criminal charges for conspiracy and mail fraud resulting in 5 years (served of a 15-year sentence) in a federal prison, in the 90s Larouche continued to build his organization by recruiting young people to complement his aging cadre while maintaining links to numerous far-right fringe groups. Larouche was responsible for California's Measure 46, an anti-gay ballot initiative which set back AIDS research at least 5 years. Larouche has written numerous articles and given hundreds of speeches wherein he rails against the British Oligarchy, Venetian Bankers, Freemasons, International Jewry, FDR, the CIA, the KGB, MI5, the Tri-Lateral Commission, Ralph Nader, Henry Kissinger, and Jimmy Carter (to name a few), all of whom he believes are participants in one conspiracy or another. Blacks, Jews, Asians, Hispanics, and homosexuals have all been painted as evil, or sub-human at some point in his works. He believes that the Grateful Dead and the counter-culture of the 60s were created as a part of a mind control operation (MK-Ultra) controlled by Allan Dulles, Aldous Huxley, Gregory Bateson, and British Intelligence. Lyndon Larouche is a dangerous man. The young and well intentioned citizens he enlists need to do their homework before they allow themselves to be participants in a cause they might not fully understand. Get away from the other Larouche followers, get on-line, and do a little independent research. Larouche has been condemned by pundits both left and right as a bigoted, anti-semitic, homophobic, sexist demagogue. Larouche sounds like he has an answer for every ill. He doesn't. If you want to change the world for the better, campaign against him, not for him. Bruce S.
