It is a membership organization with over 700 members and a Destination Marketing Organization in the tourism industry, as well as the Economic Development organization for Ashland. Within the membership branch of the organization, there is a weekly member meeting that energizes the members and business community. If you want to kick your Friday morning off with some great energy, attend a Greeters meeting! Greeters is a weekly networking meeting, occurring every Friday morning starting at 8:15 a.m. at a different member location each Friday. You must be a member to attend; however, if you are considering joining the Ashland Chamber and becoming a member, we invite you to come a time or two to meet the Chamber community and learn about membership. Attendees bring their business card and either $1 or a small gift for the raffle. You are allotted 30 seconds to speak. Often the most visible side of the Ashland Chamber’s business-to-business branch, Greeters enthusiasts delight in utilizing one another’s services, providing direct referrals to their friends and colleagues, and promoting their business’ success throughout the community as a direct response to their Chamber membership and attendance. Changing locations each week allows different businesses to host and showcase themselves to an average of 60 attendees. Greeter co-chairs serve in alternating two-year terms and provide leadership to this dynamic group, underscoring the value of Greeters as a component of greater Ashland Chamber programming. Greeters is under the leadership of the Membership Director, Dana Preston. Recently, through the leadership of the Green Best Practices committee of the Ashland Chamber, Greeters meetings have strived towards zero waste. The most obvious example of these efforts is shown through Greeters attendees who bring a durable mug for their early morning beverage. Not only are they incentivized by getting an extra 10 seconds to talk, but it underscores the importance of using durable options when easily available.
