TALENT Talent woman recovering after alleged vicious assault by two men Comment By Ryan Pfeil For the Tidings DailyTidings.com By Ryan Pfeil For the Tidings Posted Jan. 4, 2015 @ 2:28 pm Updated Jan 4, 2015 at 7:18 PM By Ryan Pfeil For the Tidings Posted Jan. 4, 2015 @ 2:28 pm Updated Jan 4, 2015 at 7:18 PM » Social News TALENT — Two men are in the Jackson County Jail on more than $5 million bail each for allegedly stabbing a 45-year-old woman and beating her with an Airsoft gun before fleeing Saturday night, in what police say was a planned attack. Eric Vale Henshaw, 18, who is the victim's nephew, and 19-year-old Michael Lawrence Koch-Prosser, both of Talent, are held in the jail on a slew of felony charges, including attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, first-degree conspiracy to commit abuse of a corpse, first-degree attempted rape, first- and second-degree assault, and unlawful use of a weapon, jail records show. Their bails are each set at $5.015 million. The Mail Tribune is choosing not to identify the victim due to the incident's severe nature. Talent police reported the 45-year-old woman let Henshaw and Koch-Prosser into her home, located in the 500 block of Talent Avenue, at around 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Police believe the two men lied about needing her help, which is why she opened the door. Once inside, the two men attacked, using a knife and an Airsoft pistol to beat the woman. She ran from her home and down the street to Talent Avenue's intersection with Everett Way, screaming. Nearby residents heard her cries and called 911. Henshaw and Koch-Presser fled. The woman was taken to Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center with multiple stab wounds and a head injury from being bludgeoned by the Airsoft gun. Hospital officials listed her in serious condition Sunday. After arriving on scene, investigators contacted Henshaw by phone. Henshaw answered and told police he and Koch-Prosser were at a movie at Tinseltown. Police responded to the scene and arrested the two men at about 9:15 p.m., police said. They were then interviewed and lodged in the jail. Talent Police Chief Mike Moran declined to release additional information on the attack's motive. "I really can't comment much more on the charges," Moran said. "I do know they are unusual in some regards." Court records show neither Henshaw nor Koch-Prosser have any felony histories in Jackson County. The case remains under investigation by the Major Assault and Death Investigation Unit, including detectives from Talent, Phoenix, Ashland, and Medford police departments, and the Jackson County Sheriff's Department. It has been forwarded to the Jackson County District Attorney's Office for review. Police said they are still looking for a piece of evidence tied to the crime, and are asking for the public's help in retrieving it. Moran said Henshaw and Koch-Prosser are believed to have ditched a pair of white cotton gloves with a blue stripe on them in a pickup truck bed at or near Tinseltown. Anyone who found the gloves is asked to call Talent police at 541-535-1253. "We believe that this was a planned attack," Moran said. "This could have been, easily, a death investigation, or a murder investigation. The victim was seriously injured by a deadly weapon." Reach reporter Ryan Pfeil at 541-776-4468 or [email protected] .
