Police seek man who attacked five people with pepper spray Monday Oct 31, 2016 at 3:08 PM Oct 31, 2016 at 3:08 PM Local report ASHLAND — Police are looking for a man they say attacked five people with pepper spray in downtown Ashland early Sunday. A log from Ashland police shows officers responded to the first block of North Main Street at 1:41 a.m. after "an unknown suspect assaulted several people by spraying them in the face with pepper spray in the downtown area without provocation." Chief Tighe O'Meara said the man attacked five people ranging from the ages of 18 to 22. The victims were scattered across the Ashland Plaza and along Calle Guanajuato walkway behind plaza businesses near Ashland Creek. The man reportedly walked up to the victims, sprayed them with pepper spray, then ran off into the night, though what direction he ran was not available. "Somebody went on a pepper spraying spree," O'Meara said. The people attacked by the man were both men and women. At least two victims are from Medford, and one is from Vancouver, Washington, O'Meara said. No one required hospitalization, but some were received treatment at the scene by Ashland Fire & Rescue. The suspect is described as a white male wearing a black thermal jacket and a tan baseball cap.
