Transportation Two major airlines serve the Rogue Valley International Medford Airport, Jackson County's largest airport located 20 miles north of Ashland in Medford. United (sometimes served by United Express) and Horizon Air have daily flights to and from the airport. Rental cars are available at the airport from Avis, Budget (Sears), Hertz and National. Many hotels also offer shuttles to and from the airport. For more information, call the Rogue Valley airport at 776-7222. Three miles south of town is the Ashland Municipal Airport. The airport has 3,400 feet of runway and offers full services for private airplanes, from aircraft fueling and maintenance to tiedowns and hangars. For more information, call 482-7675. Greyhound - Trailways bus lines provide ground transportation north and south out of the Rogue Valley. Amtrak has a station in Klamath Falls, 70 miles east of Ashland, and in Dunsmuir, Calif., 75 miles south of Ashland. There are daily departures from Ashland and Medford to Eugene that connect to trains running north. For more information, call 1-800-USA-Rail. The Rogue Valley Transportation District (RVTD) provides frequent, low-cost and reliable public bus service throughout the valley. On weekdays, buses operate in Ashland every 15 minutes for a 25 cent fare within the city. Pamphlets on bus routes are available at Ashland City Hall, 20 E. Main St. There is no Saturday or Sunday service. For route and schedule information, call 779-2877. Taxi, limousine and tour services as well as horse carriage rides also are available.
