Register to vote! Now! Don't wait - after October 11th it will be too late, you have only a few days before the election on November 2nd to register! You can register quickly and easily on line at: http://www.co.jackson.or.us. You can also get a registration form at the City of Ashland Recorders Office downtown on the Plaza, (in the same office where the Cable TV and Utilities Department is located). Then - don't forget to actually vote! Do it! Our last presidential election was a virtual tie, the Supreme Court was forced to decide who the winner was. If you don't like their last choice for our President - vote! You see, your vote really does count! Now, when you vote for our next President, consider a few things: would you like to be drafted into the military to fight a war on the other side of the world that is doing more harm than good, basically so we can have all the oil we want? Do you believe that there are other ways for America to accomplish it's goals? (And your goals - since this is your country!) Do you enjoy the outdoors? Fresh clean air and water? Is freedom a reality for you, that you want to preserve? Not just a politician's slogan for re-election? Vote for the candidate who will protect those things you love. You will very soon inherit this nation. If you don't want an enormous financial deficit that you will have to pay for out of your own hard earned paycheck, if you want a smart leader who will work for peaceful and intelligent resolutions to our nation's many challenges, including energy independence, a clean environment and protection from terrorism, then vote for John Kerry. Do your homework! Read, watch or listen to the news. Know what President Bush has done and what he stands for. Talk with your family, friends, teachers. Then vote! It's not hard, and this is your life and your future that you are voting for.
