The band plays at 11 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, at Oberon's Tavern, 45 N. Main St. The cover costs $5. Your music is a mix of punk and bluegrass. How did that come about? It mostly came from the styles of the music we grew up with. The band started out with Jeremy (Heady, lead guitar) and I as the John Dough Duo. We obviously had to change the name when the other guys came on board. We all have wide tastes in music. My radio will go from Bob Dylan to Bad Religion. There's a big similarity to bluegrass and rock-and-roll in terms of pace and subject matter. It just seemed to fit really well. Are you working on putting out an album? We have a five-track demo and we're working on getting our first full-length out by the spring. Jeremy and I have been playing together for a while so we have a lot of material. We're still figuring out what all is going to make the cut. All of our original songs are written by me or Jeremy. They all come from personal experiences. We're not really creating stories à la "A Boy Named Sue," but we write about the stuff that has happened to us. Writing is usually one of us sitting around with a guitar and figuring something out. Then we bring it to the rest of the boys and everyone adds their two cents. It's a really organic process. With your show being on Halloween, do you have anything special planned? Yes and no. We're going to debut some new songs as well as a new cover tune that we've never played live before, but nothing Halloween specific. We tried to get some Halloween songs together but we didn't quite get them nailed down in time. It'll be fun though. There's always a good amount of drinking and carrying-on at our shows. We're the kind of guys you'd see hanging around at the bar, so we build on that idea and get everyone involved. It's quite a rumpus. We're really high energy and really create a ruckus.
