Daily Tidings Daily Tidings Sign up for the Morning Brief Newsletter . facebook twitter 15 Years Jail Without Parole For Man Who Shot Bullets Into Ex-Wife’s Central Point House By Diane Megaw on July 3, 2024 JACKSON COUNTY, Ore. — Following a shooting incident in the house of a woman in the 6000 block of Downing Road, Central Point, Oregon, on August 17, 2023, her ex-husband, Thomas Lee Parks, 48, was arrested. Parks has now been sentenced to 15 years in the Oregon Department of Corrections. Central Point Shooter Had a History Of Domestic Violence Parks’s ex-wife, Mrs. Nance, started noticing shots being fired at her home in mid-July, 2023. The shots were usually fired late at night or in the early morning hours, according to a press release from the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office. Mrs Nance noticed the shootings happening every three to four nights and bullet holes were found in several locations in her home (including in her bedroom) and elsewhere on her property. Parks had recently been arrested for stalking his ex-wife who began to suspect him of being the one shooting at her house. During August 2022 court-mandated domestic violence counseling, Parks said in the future, he intended to confront Ms. Nance and cause her physical harm. After Mrs Nance heard shots fired at her house again on August 17, 2023, she called the police, who attended to the house but didn’t see Parks’s car. One of the police officers then found Parks’s car a few blocks away at Whiskey River Bar, and Parks was eventually caught. Sentencing For Jackson County House Shooter The release indicates that Parks was taken into custody and arrested without incident but didn’t have the gun from the incident in his possession. Acting on a search warrant, police could not find the firearm in Parks’ vehicle, but a spent 9mm cartridge casing and boxes of 9mm ammunition were found on the driver’s side floorboard. A bullet from the August incident was later found by Mrs. Nance in her living room. Police also found a loaded pistol and a bike around her house that she recognized from when they were married. Parks’s DNA was found on both the bike and the gun. He was arrested and charged with two counts each of second-degree attempted murder and first-degree attempted assault, as well as: Felony possession of a firearm. Unlawful use of a weapon. Stalking. After being found guilty, sentencing under Measure 11 ensures Parks will serve his time on a day-for-day basis, without any reduction allowed.
