--> --> Shirley Rae Parton Shirley Rae Parton, 68, of Eagle Point and formerly of Ashland, died Monday, September 10, 2001 at her residence. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, September 14, 2001 at Trail Christian Fellowship in Shady Cove. Pastor Don Holmes of Trail Christian Fellowship will officiate. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 698, Medford, Ore. 97501. Mrs. Parton was born Shirley Rae Stephenson on December 18, 1932 in Medford, Ore., and married James D. Parton, who survives, on September 16, 1974 in Reno, Nevada. She lived in the Rogue Valley all of her life, living in Ashland from the third grade through tenth grade. Shirley Rae Parton worked for Human Resources as an assistant in the Children's Services Division for over 20 years. She enjoyed reading and gardening, and was a member of Trail Christian Fellowship in Shady Cove. Survivors include her husband, James D. Parton of Eagle Point; eight sons, Jim Taylor and Derrick Parton of Medford, Ore., Jeff Taylor of Butte Falls, Ore., Eric Parton of Eagle Point, Ore., Floyd Taylor of Sheridan, Ore., Mike Parton of Lacey, Wash., Ed Cates of Camas Valley, Ore., and Dennis Parton of Sun Valley, Nevada; three daughters, Tammy Patterson and Andrea Templer of Medford, Ore., and Lori Taylor of Tigard, Ore.; her mother, Letha F. Stephenson of Novata, Calif.; a sister, Arline Basey of Novata, Calif.; 20 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Ernest K. Stephenson.
