Sunday — Police cited two transient people for having open containers of alcohol behind Subway restaurant. Sunday 2:16 a.m. — A 22-year-old Medford man was arrested for driving while under the influence of alcohol. Sunday 1:59 a.m. — An 18-year-old Medford man was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana. Saturday 8:20 p.m. — Two transient men were arrested for shoplifting from Safeway. Saturday — Police confiscated a revolved from a man travelling to California. His car broke down and he was seeking permission to stay the night in the Rite-Aide parking lot on Ashland Street. Store employees thought he may be suicidal and called the police. According to APD, the man was “depressed about his truck and agreed to let Ashland Police Department hold his gun for safekeeping until he convened his trip to California.” Saturday 4:53 p.m. — A 29-year-old transient man was cited for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana near the bandshell in Lithia Park. Saturday 12:10 p.m. — An unknown suspect lit a fire in a rubber garbage can in front of the Main Street Laundromat. Friday — The windshield of a BMW was smashed on Granite Street near Strawberry Lane. Saturday 10:40 a.m. — A 59-year-old woman attempted suicide by taking an overdose of Valium on Glenn Street. Friday — $280 was removed from a safe at the Bard’s Inn. Friday 5:25 a.m. — A 55-year-old transient man was cited for having an open container of alcohol. Friday — A 15-year-old male told his parents that he suspects someone put a hallucinogenic drug in his beverage, without his knowledge, while he was watching the fire dancers on the plaza the previous Friday night. Friday 4:15 p.m. — The Stevenson Union at Southern Oregon University was burglarized. Elmo’s Cafe and Subway reported losses.
