These figures emerge from a report by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) that reviewed data from 2011 to 2022 to establish which states have the highest average rate of quality roads. Idaho Offers the “Smoothest” Drive Apparently, if you want to experience the “smoothest” drive, then neighboring Idaho is where you should head your vehicle. At the top of the Top 10 list, Idaho comes in with 94.45% of acceptable road surface conditions. Condolences to New Jersey. As if it’s not bad enough that they are the butt of most jokes told by New Yorkers, they can now also claim the dubious title of the rock bottom of the bottom 10 states with only 50.71% quality roads, according to Munley Law who researched the BTS data. Oregon has a total of 8,717.07 miles of roads, of which 7,742.28 miles have an acceptable standard of quality, according to the BTS. The Best and the Worst Roads Here is the Top 10 list: Idaho – 94.78% Georgia – 94.5% Tennessee – 94.17% North Dakota – 93.96% Nebraska – 92.47% Wyoming – 91.51% Kentucky – 91.24% Alabama – 90.77% Montana – 89.6% Oregon – 89.44%. The Rock Bottom pile, from the worst, is: New Jersey – 50.71% Rhode Island – 51.51% Connecticut – 58.14% Hawai’i – 59.27% California – 59.65% Massachusetts – 63.47% Washington – 70.44% West Virginia – 71.3% New Mexico – 71.83% Mississippi – 72.16%.
