Poll: Iran could be a problem About half of Internet voters believe war with Iran is either inevitable or very likely in the near future if U.S. and Iranian leaders don't come to an understanding on the nuclear issues in the Mideast nation. In a relatively low turnout, 243 people logged on to www.dailytidings.com this week to answer the question "Do you see the United States going to war with Iran?" Fifty-seven people or 23 percent believe war is inevitable, while another 59 people or 24 percent chose "Down the line if nuclear issues are unresolved." Another 48 people, or 20 percent believe the situation is salvageable and picked, "Maybe, but democratic push there could solve the problem." Optimists had a strong showing as well, with 39 people or 16 percent choosing, "No, diplomacy will prevail," and 40 people or 16 percent are confident the U.S. will "Absolutely not" go to war with Iran. This week's poll question, posted Saturday, is: "Considering the events of 9/11 and the war in Iraq, how do you feel about patriotism this Fourth of July?" The Tidings weekly online poll is an unscientific measurement of public opinion and only reflects the views of those who choose to participate.
