People are encouraged to donate blood that is always needed for "quiet disasters." A 30-year-old gunshot victim will need 80 units of blood to survive and a 25-year-old car accident victim will consume over 100 units of blood in 24 hours. Donors must be at least 17 years old, a minimum of 110 pounds, and in good health. To schedule a donation or for information, call 1-800-792-5682. · SOUTHERN OREGON HISTORICAL SOCIETY TO HOST WOVEN WALL ART EXHIBIT at its Third Street Artisans' Studio, Saturdays 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. beginning Sept. 1. The exhibit is located on Third and California streets in Jacksonville and is free to the public. The display will feature creations woven and presented, while artisans will demonstrate the traditional forms of spinning and weaving.
