--> --> Oregon in brief Woman arrested for forgery released ROSEBURG - A former Division of Motor Vehicles employee arrested on forgery charges after a six month investigation has been released on her own recognizance. Veronica Perez, 41, was arrested Monday on 176 counts related to taking bribes in exchange for fraudulent Oregon driver's licenses and state identification cards. She had worked for the DMV for six years, in Salem and in McMinnville. State prosecutor Alicia Eagan said Perez would be arraigned again following grand jury proceedings. Perez was released on the condition that she report to her pretrial release office weekly by phone, get permission before changing her residence and notify future employers of the charges against her. Investigators: Deaths were murder-suicide WINCHESTER - A 65-year-old man killed his wife and then himself in a mobile home park shooting Wednesday in Douglas County, investigators said Thursday. The authorities responded after John Harrelson called 911. During the phone call, Harrelson said "there was going to be two murders ... and they needed to send the sheriff's office to his residence," according to a press release issued Thursday by the sheriff's office. When police arrived they found Marie F. Harrelson, 55, dead in bed. Her husband's body was nearby. Detective Dwes Hutson said a handgun was used in the killings. Portlander gets 20 years for killing girl PORTLAND - A Portland man was sentenced to 20 years in prison for shooting a girl to death in Forest Park on her 19th birthday in 1996. Adisa Kali Johnson, 24, pleaded guilty to criminal conspiracy to commit aggravated murder in the death of Maggie Overlund, who was fatally shot and left along a Forest Park trail. Three counts of aggravated murder were dropped. One count of aggravated murder is pending but will be dropped once Johnson cooperates with police in the ongoing investigation. Multnomah County Circuit Judge Kimberly Frankel said she accepted the plea because of Johnson's willingness to cooperate with police. Associated Press Email your...
