He was born October 1, 1928 in Jersey City, N.J. to Sicilian immigrant parents, Joseph and Maria Amorelli. When he was five the family moved to Los Angeles where he graduated from Hamilton High School in 1948 and shortly thereafter married Gloria Brodbeck, with whom he had three children. They later divorced and in 1977 he married Christine Barratt Ambrose. Chris brought two children to the marriage and in 1978 they had a son together. Nick worked in the construction industry for 35 years, beginning as a carpenter and ending as a superintendent, retiring in 1988 and moving to Ashland. In retirement Nick enjoyed playing golf but his main enjoyment was high school sports. He ran the chain gang for Ashland High Football for 18 years, only quitting when he turned 80. He continued as head timer of the AHS Swim Team well into his 80s, and rarely missed a volleyball or basketball game, as an avid spectator. He was a member of Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church and Trinity Episcopal Church. Nick is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Chris; sons, Mike, Paul, and Greg Amorelli; daughter, Tess Beasley; stepson, Michael Ambrose; and stepdaughter, Natalie Krumm. He had 12 grandchildren and 7½ great-grandchildren. Nick was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Josephine Goslin; and brother, Alfred Amorelli. A service in celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Trinity Episcopal Church., Ashland. In lieu of flowers Nick would have appreciated donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Ashland High School Boosters. The family would like to thank Asante Ashland Hospice, especially Darcy and Willow who cared for Nick so tenderly during his last few months.
