Wolfe of Eugene died Nov. 5, of age-related causes. He was 87. Wolfe was born Oct. 29, 1917, in Eustis, NE, to Otto Wolfe and Lydia Daiss Wolfe. He married Allene Gundaker on Aug. 7, 1944, in San Francisco. She died Nov. 15, 2001. Wolfe graduated from high school in Elwood NE, in 1935 and from Nebraska State Teachers College at Kearney in 1939. He received a master's degree from the University of Nebraska in 1941 and a doctorate from the University of Oregon in 1964. He served in the Army from 1943 to 1946. He was a high school teacher in Waverly, Neb. and Grand Coulee, Wash. and later was president and general manager of Inland Kaiser-Frazer Motors in Spokane. He was secretary of the Spokane Retail Trade Bureau and Spokane Chamber of Commerce from 1954 to 1957. From 1957 to 1980, Wolfe was a professor at Southern Oregon University in Ashland, where he taught accounting, business law, business education and other subjects. He moved to Eugene in 1990. He belonged to Ashland's Congregational Church and various social and educator's organizations. He enjoyed travel, camping, fishing, reading and spending time with his family. Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Pennington of Eugene and Glenda Hale of Gresham; seven sisters, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. At his request, no service was held. Memorial contributions may be made to the Arnold D. Wolfe Scholarship in Accounting at SOU. Howard Wagner Howard Wagner passed away November 26, 2004 in Ashland. Howard was born in July 1928. He was 76 years old. Mr. Wagner was in the finance business in San Jose, CA until he moved to Ashland in 1974. He was a chef and a Director of Operations for several restaurants and motels. He was a frequent listener and caller in the early mornings to KCMX radio. Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Bernice Wagner of Ashland; sons, Stephen of Gold River, CA, and Ron of Klamath Falls, OR; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Frances Wagner and father, Howard C. Wagner and one son, Scott Wagner. A private interment is to be held. Sheila Diane Converse (Jan. 19, 1962 - Nov. 24, 2004) After 20 years of living bravely with Multiple Sclerosis, Sheila died peacefully, in her home, surrounded by loved ones. We give thanks for all the time we had. She was 42 years young. Sheila made Ashland her home 15 years ago and was born in California. She was preceded in death by her father, Glenn Leland Converse. She is survived by her mother, Cindy Ceteras of Ashland; her sisters, Lori Humphreys of Walnut Creek, CA and Lynn Ceteras Huerta of Ashland. Sheila was a fine artist since age four. She found her joy in lithography, cats, her 50's Chevy, photography, the ocean, rowing, friends, laughter, freedom, horses, books, family, movies, Goodwill fashions, food, uncustomary words, Camp Nor'Wester, cool weather, hot men and motorcycles. We took delight in Sheila's artwork, outspoken opinions, smiling face, appetite for irreverent jokes, dogged determination to walk, childlike joy in each moment of life, and her valiant strength of spirit. Anderson will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 11, 2004 at First United Methodist Church of Ashland. On November 29, 2004, Bill passed away peacefully with his family by his side at his home in Ashland, Oregon. He was 85. Bill had a distinguished career in the Southern California aerospace industry, working on design and fabrication of the world's most advanced aircraft and space craft, including NASA's Space Shuttle, Apollo Lunar Spacecraft, X-15 rocket plane, and the XB-70 and B-1 bombers. Bill was born June 13, 1919 in River Rouge near Detroit, Michigan. While still completing high school, he was hired for a coveted job at a steel mill, which eventually led to a career of working with advanced metals. After studies at Michigan Tech and the University of Detroit, he became a Fellow in the American Society of Metallurgists. During World War II, Bill was an intelligence officer in the US Army Air Corps. He was stationed in India with a bomber squadron for much of the war. On his final military posting in Los Angeles he met Gayle Koch, and they married in 1945. They raised a family of three children in Southern California. After wife Gayle's untimely death in January 1985, Bill continued with his personal quest to see as much of the world as possible. In time, he saw most of it, visiting every continent at least once and making a number of round-the-world trips. In 1986, Bill married Lori Carnesciali Edmonds in Torrance, California. Four years later, Bill and Lori left the crowded LA area for the more relaxed atmosphere of Ashland, Oregon to enjoy life and family. Bill is survived by his wife Lori Anderson of Ashland, and his children James Anderson, Nancy Edwards, and Maggie Anderson, of Redmond OR, his grandchildren Tisa Anderson of Oakland CA, Tiffany Hatch, Emily Edwards and Abby Anderson of Redmond, OR, Leif Anderson of Bend OR, and his great-granddaughter Ashlynn Hatch of Redmond OR. He is also survived by his step-children Bonnie Helton of Cupertino CA, Ron Edmonds of Redondo Beach CA, and step-grandchildren Jason and Elaine Edmonds of Southern California, and Elisa and Nicholas Helton of Cupertino CA. Bill was deeply loved. His loving spirit, intelligence, wisdom, strength, forgiveness, kindness, generosity, and courage will be dearly missed and he will forever live on in our hearts. Memorial contributions may be made in Bill's name to Hospice of Providence.
