--> --> People news from the area Ashland Daily Tidings · Marianne Robinson, a music teacher at Talent Middle School, was recently named the Talent Wal-Mart Store Teacher of the Year for 2001. Every year the employees of each Wal-Mart store select an outstanding teacher from their service area to honor. Robinson has taught in the Phoenix-Talent School District since 1986 and currently teaches band and choir to sixth, seventh and eighth graders. She was awarded $500 for use in her music program. · Christopher Borman, of Ashland, was one of 10 students from across the nation selected for the Research Education for Undergraduates program at the University of Wyoming. Borman spent 10 weeks this summer pursuing an independent-study research project directed UW chemistry professor Pat Sullivan. · Western Washington University sophomore Jessica Ruediger, daughter of Bob Ruediger of Salem, and Jan Wright of Ashland, has been awarded the Harvey Gelder Scholarship for the 2001-2002 academic year at Western. Ruediger has a 3.86 GPA. The Harvey Gelder Scholarship is awarded to upper-division Fairhaven students who express an interest in math and/or science. Email your...
