The graffiti was found Thursday afternoon in the third-floor boys bathroom of the humanities building at AHS. It stated there would be a bomb in the school on Monday. Officers from the Ashland Police Department investigated the threat. “The police have looked at it and the police do not think it’s credible,” Di Chiro said. Students will receive a letter today to bring home to their families, Di Chiro said. School district officials will also use PowerSchool, an Internet program Ashland schools use to communicate with parents, to explain the situation. “We will have heightened security on Monday,” Di Chiro said. School Resource Officer Phil Gray, a sworn APD officer, will be on duty Monday and all school administrators will be out in the quad to watch for any suspicious activity. District officials canceled all classes at AHS on Nov. 1, 2004, because a bomb threat was discovered in the school over the weekend. Di Chiro said classes will be held on Monday because the administrators had time to communicate with families and the police department was able to look into the threat. Di Chiro doesn’t believe Thursday’s threat was made by the same person as the first threat because the handwriting is different.
