--> --> State park boat ramps still accessible Although drought conditions continue to drop reservoir water levels, every lakeside state parks in Oregon still has at least one operating boat ramp heading into the summer, the state Parks and Recreation Department reports. "Water levels are very low on a couple of reservoirs where we have parks, and we may eventually lose accessibility from a couple of our boat ramps," said State Parks Public Services Manager Tom Towslee. "Right now, if a state park has a launch site, you can get your boat to the water." Detroit Reservoir east of Salem remains accessible to boaters from Detroit Lake State Park, although boating facilities near the park's campground are already high and dry. Park Manager Dennis Comfort said the park's Mongold Day-use Area boat ramp is still operable, but warns that traffic congestion could occur at times since it is the only launch site on the reservoir still in service. Fall Creek Reservoir southeast of the Eugene-Springfield area is full at this time, but its level is expected to begin dropping rapidly in mid-July. Cascara Campground has a boat ramp at the upper end of the reservoir. The area's Winberry Day-use Area has a ramp. Updates on boating are available by calling 1 (800) 551-6949. Email your...
