Civil Case Against Former Asante Nurse Stayed Pending Outcome Of Criminal Trial News By Diane Megaw On Sep 10, 2024 MEDFORD, Ore — In one of the civil actions Dani Marie Schofield- the former Asante nurse accused of drug diversion at the Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center (RRMC), is facing, a stay was granted by a judge in Jackson County. The civil case of Horace Earl Wilson will now be heard after the criminal case of Schofield has concluded. Asante Drug Diversion Civil Action Pending Schofield’s lawyers requested the stay on August 14, 2024, on behalf of the former Medford nurse accused of criminal assault of 44 hospital patients through drug diversion. In this matter, Patti L. Wilson represents the estate of the late Horace Earl Wilson as the plaintiff, against two defendants- Schofield and Asante, an Oregon corporation, in a Jackson County civil court case. The documents were filed in February by Justin Idiart of Central Point’s Idiart Law Group. In the Medford Drug Diversion case, another $303 Million Lawsuit was filed against Asante . Schofield is also facing 44 felony counts of criminal assault in Jackson County Circuit Court. She is accused of causing 44 Asante RRMC intensive care unit patients to fall ill as a result of her diverting fentanyl intended for the patients to herself, replacing it with hospital tap water that is a potential cause of infection.
