Ashland Rowing Club off to fast start EUGENE - The Ashland Rowing Club placed in all nine events it competed in at the Covered Bridge Regatta at Lake Dexter in Saturday. Grabbing first-place trophies for ARC were the masters men's four 1,000-meter crew, the master women's eight 1,000, the master men's eight 1,000 and the master women's four. Stephen Kiesling, Andy Baxter, Paul Oursler, Ben Rogers and cox Rachael Wanderscheid teamed up to win the master men's four 1,000 in 3 minutes, 37.63 seconds. Rowing ARC's champion master women's eight boat were: Lesley Klecan, Paula Backus, Patti Ruiz, Judy Oursler, Beth Geismar, Corinne Lombardi, Heidi Heyden, Katie Latham and cox Karen Carnival. The crew crossed the finish line in 3:40.94. The ARC masters men's eight was powered by rowers Philip Benedetti, Rogers, Kiesling, Baxter, Oursler, Michael Skibinski, Scott Knox and Scott Toll, with cox Micah Cardillo, and won in 3:22.09. Ashland's women's four second event crew of Diana Fairbanks, Carol Hoffman, Bennie Sullivan and Merike Wallace, along with cox Michelle Bashaw, also took first with a time of 5:45.93. The local rowing club's master women's eight heat B squad also took first and second. Also for ARC, the master men's double event team of Knox and Benedetti took third in 4:15.96, and the masters mixed eight 1,000 squad (cox Kelly Barton, Kiesling, Rogers, John Augsburger, Heyden, Leslie Ritner-Bogue, Sullivan, Jean Crawford and James Adams) also earned a third-place ribbon.
