Jes Staley
Document text
Being named is not a finding of wrongdoing. This page documents that a person was named — by Rep. Massie or in the sources cited below — not that any allegation against them has been proven. Several people in this collection deny wrongdoing, have not been charged with a crime, or (per available reporting) have no documented connection at all. Read the citations, not just the headline.
Jes Staley
Named by Rep. Thomas Massie among 14 people in an Aug. 31, 2026 House floor speech on Jeffrey Epstein — see Massie's 14. Naming is not a charge; see that page for what the speech does and doesn't establish.
What's documented
Jes Staley, former CEO of Barclays and a senior JPMorgan Chase executive, maintained a
multi-year personal relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, including hundreds of emails in which
Staley described Epstein as a close friend, and visits to Epstein's properties
(List of people named in the Epstein files — Wikipedia).
The UK Financial Conduct Authority found Staley had misled the regulator about how close and
recent his relationship with Epstein actually was, and barred him from senior roles in UK
financial services; JPMorgan separately sued Staley for indemnity after settling civil suits
brought by Epstein accusers over the bank's handling of the relationship. [VERIFY: exact fine
amount and date of the FCA ruling are reported inconsistently across sources gathered for this
entry.] Staley has said he was unaware of Epstein's crimes and has acknowledged one consensual
encounter with a member of Epstein's staff; the FCA's finding concerned misrepresentation to
regulators, not a finding of criminal conduct, and Staley has not been charged with a crime.
Unsealed DOJ records reported in January 2026 show Epstein named Staley as a successor executor in draft wills from 2012–2014 (New York Post). Staley has since been called to testify before the House Oversight Committee about his ties to Epstein (Yahoo Finance).
