Grand Jury Indictment against JOHN WILLIAM SHERMAN, THERESE ANNCOUPEZ, and JANINE DARCY BERTRAM. This indictment was obtained
on March 28, 1978, in the Western District of Washington,Seattle, Washington. The Indictment reflects nine counts
which includes conspiracy, bank robbery, and bombing activity.

.1 5,.George Jackson Brigade GJB! members JOHN WILLIAM SHERMAN,THERESE ANN COUPEZ, and JANINE DARCY BERTRAM were arrested
by FBI Agents at Tacoma, Hashingtgn, on 3/21/78. On3/28/78, a nine count Federal Grand Jury FGJ! Indictment
was obtained in the Western District of Washington, Seattle,Washington, against the three subjects, charging them withConspiracy, Armed Bank Robbery, Bombing Matters, and Posses-
sion of an Illegal Bomb Device. On 8/8/78, BERTRAM pledguilty to two counts of the Indictment. A trial for SHERMAN
-' and COUPEZ took place in U. S. District Court, Seattle,_Washington, from 6/21/78 through 7/11/78 and both were foundguilty of eight counts of the Indictment, while one count
was dismissed. SHERMAN and COUPEZ were sentenced on 8/2/78
and BERTRAM was sentenced on 8/7/78. A copy of the FGJ
Indictment and a copy of Judgment and Commitment for the
subjects is attached to this report. '

On March 21, 1978, JOHN WiLLIAM SHERMAN, THERESE
ANN COUPEZ, and JANINE'DARCY 8ER$RAM, all members of the
George Jackson Brigade G58!, were arrested by Special Agents
of the Seattle, Washington, Division of the Federal Bureau
of Investigation at Tacoma, Washington. Shey were subse-quently transported to Seattle, Washington, and afforded an
initial hearing before United States Magistrate PHILIP K.
SWEIGERT. Following the initial hearing each subject was
incarcerated at the King County Jail, Seattle, Washington.
