Second-ranked Henley rallied from deficits in both the second and third games and downed the No. 8 Pirates, 25-19, 25-22, 25-21. "One of the things I told my kids was that when Phoenix comes in here, they’ll have some runs where they’re real tough," said Hornets coach Chuck Shannon, whose team is 9-1 in the Skyline. "But we feel like we have an advantage in our ball control, which is real consistent. We don’t go up and down. Over the course of these long matches now, it ends up wearing people down." The Hornets were 69-of-73 serving and got strong play from middles Staci Maupin (26 kills) and Michelle Klaja (16 kills). Kathryn Stock contributed 38 assists. For Phoenix, Tiffany Ross notched 10 kills and three stuff blocks, Cassie Tolman had eight kills and Kelly Meredith eight kills and four stuff blocks. LAKEVIEW 25-25-25, ILLINOIS VALLEY 10-18-14 — At Cave Junction, senior Jess Childress had a game-high 12 kills to lead top-ranked Lakeview to the Skyline Conference win. Senior setter Megan Albertson added 10 kills and tallied 20 assists, while freshman Anneka Tucker was 9-for-9 from the service line to go along with five digs. The Honkers are 22-3, 11-0 Skyline. ROGUE RIVER 25-25-25, HIDDEN VALLEY 22-12-15 — At Rogue River, Kristy Frederick had eight kills and 16 digs to lead Rogue River to the Skyline Conference win. Ashleigh Artoff had 19 assists and 16 digs for the Chieftains (5-5 Skyline), while Katie Glasscock had 14 kills and 11 digs, and sophomore Michelle Krein totaled six digs. Teammate Casey Huston had three stuff blocks and five kills. Keely Gill had five kills, 12 digs and three blocks for Hidden Valley (5-10, 2-9 Skyline), while Sam Masiak had five kills, four digs and three blocks. NORTH VALLEY 25-23-25-26, MAZAMA 19-25-12-24 — At Merlin, Elaina Renius continued her strong Skyline Conference play with 18 kills, 10 digs, five aces and three blocks. Leslie Tobin had seven kills and six aces, while Agusta Richard picked up 13 digs. North Valley improved to 8-7 overall and 5-5 in Skyline play. SOC ROSEBURG 25-25-25, EAGLE POINT 23-23-17 — At Roseburg, Eagle Point had sizable leads in the first two games, but service breakdowns allowed sixth-ranked Roseburg to rally each time and win the SOC match. Eagle Point led 12-6 in Games 1 and 2 and 23-20 in the latter before Roseburg’s Emily Waldron served five straight points. Ashley Curtis had 13 kills and Nicole Lucas seven for the Eagles. Roseburg got 13 kills from Kristen Bitter, 25 assists from Lindsy Bartholomew and 16 digs from Natalie Hooper. ASHLAND 25-25-25, KLAMATH UNION 10-14-12 — At Klamath Falls, Chelsea Van Lehn had 11 kills and eight digs and Erika Boehnke seven kills and two blocks as fifth-ranked Ashland remained undefeated in the SOC. The Grizzlies (16-2, 10-0 SOC) also got 27 assists from Kate Morris and nine digs from Emma Swanson. CRATER 25-25-25, GRANTS PASS 13-20-15 — At Central Point, Erin Kinney had seven kills, 10 digs and 14 service points as the Crater improved 7-3 in the SOC. The Comets’ Brandi Wolter contributed 11 points from the service line to go with five digs, Audrey Hop had 11 digs, Justine Bettencourt five kills and nine digs and Crystal Huntley five kills and three blocks.
