Federal prison sentence for Medford man By Mail Tribune staff Updated: Jun 02, 2022 05:35 PM A A Man fled from a Jackson County sheriff’s deputy but was found in a ditch trying to escape from his vehicle A Medford man on probation for drug trafficking and other felonies was sent back to federal prison for more than 6 years Thursday for running from the police while in possession of methamphetamine and a gun. Vincent Russell Jacobo, 38, appeared in U.S. District Court in Medford, and was ordered to serve 80 months in the federal prison in Sheridan, along with five more years of supervised release. A deputy with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office was on patrol in Medford Dec. 31, 2020, when he saw a black sedan driving toward him at a high rate of speed. The deputy tried to pull the car over but stopped pursuit after an unsuccessful attempt. “A short time later the deputy located the vehicle in a ditch and observed Jacobo attempting to crawl out the back window,” said U.S. Attorney Scott Erik Anspaug. “Authorities arrested Jacobo and located a gram of heroin, two cellphones, and $1,500 on his person.” When detectives from the Medford Area Drug and Gang Enforcement team later searched Jacobo’s vehicle, they found more than 90 grams of meth, a small quantity of heroin, a loaded pistol and drug-packaging material. Jacobo waived indictment and pleaded guilty Feb. 28, Anspaug added.
