Butte Falls sweeps away Paisley in Sky A volleyball BUTTE FALLS - The Butte Falls volleyball team brought its Skyline A League Southern Division title hopes a little closer to reality on Friday. With a doubleheader sweep of Paisley - 15-6, 15-7 and 15-8, 15-9 - the Loggers moved to 10-0 in conference play and reduced their magic number to one. The twin bill was the result of a scheduling conflict. Butte Falls is playing through injury and illness right now. "We have to get healthy and have a full complement of players," said Butte Falls coach Mike Harrington. "If we get everybody back, we're excited about what we could do (in the playoffs)." Sarah Matthews led the Loggers with seven aces and 15 kills. Setter Krystle Rowley had 31 assists. "(Matthews) doesn't lead us too often because she's a middle," said Harrington. "It was just a good night for Sarah." Freshman Vicky Lawrence paced Butte Falls in digs with nine. "She's been coming in and playing back row for us," said Harrington. "We are a little short-handed right now, but the girls who don't normally get much playing time did a good job for us." Butte Falls (14-6 overall) closes out the regular season with matches against New Hope Christian on Tuesday and Triad next Friday. Cross Country BUTTE FALLS - Days Creek's David Smith won a narrow decision in a three-way Skyline A League cross country meet Friday. Smith's time of 17 minutes, 17 seconds edged out teammate Harvey Smith's time of 17:18. Days Creek won the team title with 33 points.
