Buckle Rash at Alex's Oct 31, 2013 12:00 AM A A Earlier this year, guitarists Aaron Reed and Clay Baker and bassist T.J. Ellers left Synrgy and reggae behind to play old-school country and Southern rock. The trio, joined by a fourth and fifth member, Portland drummer Oscar Matallana and backup vocalist and dancer Philip Reed, form Buckle Rash. The band plays Reed's original songs and covers a few Johnny Cash, Chris Isaak and Allman Brothers songs. Buckle Rash will play at 9:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, at Alex's Plaza Restaurant, 35 N. Main St., Ashland. Jive Coulis and the John Doe Duo will open the show. The cover is $5. Left to right, Oscar Matallana, Aaron Reed, and T.J. Eilers are part of Buckle Rash.
