PREPS: Crater crushes Yreka; EP wrestlers sweep By Mail Tribune staff Updated: Dec 22, 2022 06:31 PM A A YREKA, Calif. — Crater put together a full-throttle effort Thursday afternoon against Yreka, scoring 19 points or more in each quarter en route to a 92-43 boys basketball romp on the road. Ashton Acrey and Hunter Schwenk each dropped in 22 points to lead five Comets in double figures. Marcus Idiart chimed in with 14 points, Ty Dahlin had 12 and Joshua Rucker added 11 to boost Crater (6-2). Nathan Kephart posted 19 points to pace Yreka (6-6), which was outscored 24-0 in the fourth quarter. Wrestling EAGLE POINT SWEEPS: At Eagle Point, Tygren Lopez scored a narrow 2-0 decision over Harrisburg’s Ethan Talmadge at 132 pounds and was one of four Eagle Point wrestlers to score a pair of victories on the mat during a three-team meet with Harrisburg and Henley late Wednesday night. Lopez added a 16-6 major decision victory over Riley Ore of Henley. In all, Eagle Point swept its opponents, winning 41-23 over Harrisburg and then 61-18 over Henley. Also scoring a pair of mat victories for the Eagles were Ethan Metcalf (126), Nathan Mallari (138) and David Brown, who wrestled at 160 and 170 during his two matches.
