Brokers, store join Medford Center Coffee company may sign up soon By David Preszler Two more tenants have signed leases to move into the new portion of the Medford Center near Tinseltown Theatres. Brokerage firm Strand, Atkinson, Williams and York will move from downtown Medford into a 2,300-square-foot space in the center. The space faces Jackson Street and is on the east end of the theater complex. Candy Bouquet, a chain candy store that arranges candy like florists do flowers, plans to open in 950-square-foot space next door to J. Michaels Fine Jewelry. The local franchisee is Samy Tawfik of Medford. "What we saw is a unique idea that we could ... bring to Southern Oregon," says Tawfik of the candy bouquets. The candy store is scheduled to open July 1. Candy Bouquet is based in Little Rock, Ark., and has more than 400 franchises in 48 states. The store features candy and chocolates from around the world. Strand Atkinson is leaving its downtown offices for the larger space at the Medford Center. "We need to expand a little bit so we�ll be heading out there," says Lyn Hennion, one of the firm�s three brokers. The new office will have space for six brokers and Hennion says the company plans to hire additional brokers. She says the increased parking will also be a plus, though the brokers are "sad" to be leaving downtown. She says the firm searched for a larger space downtown but couldn�t find the right fit. Meanwhile, 24-Hour Fitness has opened its temporary location in the Medford Center and is moving ahead with work on the 35,600 square-foot space it plans to turn into a fitness center. The California chain intends to open the full fitness center this fall, according to Medford Center officials. Cold Stone Creamery, an ice cream store chain, is preparing to move into its storefront next to the theater. The ice cream store had been scheduled to open in May but now plans to open in mid-July. The latest tenants leave just a few spots remaining in the area around Tinseltown. Center officials say they are in the final stages of a lease agreement with a local coffee company, which would open next to the movie theater. A restaurant operator also has talked about opening in the corner space across from J. Michaels.
