Area teams take second at THUSC Invitational The Rogue Valley Soccer Club Fuego placed second in the U12 Girls Silver Division in the THUSC Invitational tournament held June 22-25. In first-round action the Fuego defeated Westside Metros Prime Time 3-1, behind the scoring of Chrissy Munyon, Sarah Holister and Megan Ross. In the second round the Fuego defeated THUSC Strikers United 7-1 with goals scored by Courtney Cossette, Sarah Gregory, Kylie Schwarm, Katie Servoss, Gregorie Gressett and Ross. In the third round the Fuego defeated the Bridlemile Mustangs 2-0 to enter the semifinals. Munyon and Gressett scored for the Fuego. The Fuego defeated the Bridlemile Mustangs again 2-1 to get into the finals with Gregory and Gressett scoring goals. In the finals the 3 Rivers United Lightning defeated the Fuego 2-0. The RVSC Tornado also placed second in the THUSC Invitational in the U15 Girls Gold Division. In the first round Tornado tied with the Westside Metro Starz 1-1 as Kadi Driver scored the lone goal for the Tornados. In the second round the Tornado defeated the Evergreen SC Mystique 1-0 with Kelly Vilarino scoring the only goal. In the third round the Tornado defeated the West Linn/Wilsonville Revolution 2-0 behind goals from Kelly and Nicole Vilarino. In the finals the Westside Metro Starz defeated the Tornado, 3-1. The only goal scored by the Tornado in the championship game was by Allison Alvord.
