GRANTS PASS Pot dispensary gets bomb scare Comment By Alex Madison Grants Pass Daily Courier MailTribune.com By Alex Madison Grants Pass Daily Courier Posted Aug. 31, 2016 at 4:19 PM By Alex Madison Grants Pass Daily Courier Posted Aug. 31, 2016 at 4:19 PM » Social News CAVE JUNCTION — A possible explosive device similar to a pipe bomb was hung from the door handle of a marijuana dispensary at 226 N. Redwood Highway and set on fire early Tuesday morning. The device did not detonate, and within 10 seconds the flame had gone out on its own. The device then fell to the sidewalk where it was found by authorities from the Josephine County Sheriff's Office at 11:06 a.m., according to Sheriff Dave Daniel. On Tuesday at 1:40 a.m., a person approached the front door of the marijuana dispensary and tried unsuccessfully to enter the front door. Daniel declined to say whether this information came from a security camera or an eye witness. The same person apparently returned at 2:31 a.m., which is when he hung a small device from the front door handle of the dispensary and lit it, according to the Sheriff's Office. Detectives from the Oregon State Police Explosives Unit responded and secured the device, which was determined to likely be explosive. The investigation is ongoing under the direction of the OSP. Those with information about this incident are asked to call the Josephine County Sheriff's Office at 541-474-5123. — Reach reporter Alex Madison at 541-474-3718 or [email protected] By Alex Madison Grants Pass Daily Courier MailTribune.com By Alex Madison Grants Pass Daily Courier Posted Aug. 31, 2016 at 4:19 PM » Comment or view comments Reader Reaction » STAY INFORMED Email NewsLetter Sign Up Today Sign up for our newsletter and have the top headlines from your community delivered right to your inbox.
