The Raiders (12-4, 7-1) moved into a tie with the Eagles (10-3, 7-1) atop the 10-team circuit by winning their seventh consecutive home contest and snapping NU’s program-record 10-match win streak in the process. Sophomore outside hitter Jess Childress accumulated a match-high 13 kills for the defending conference champions, while junior middle blocker Nicholette Le Bel added 10 kills and tied a school three-game match record with seven blocks. "I felt good about our preparation and we executed our game plan like we were supposed to," Raider coach Paul Elliott said. "There’s a long way to go in the season, but this was a big win for us in terms of getting back the match we lost (at Concordia) last weekend." The Raiders featured a crisp offensive attack that converted at a healthy .328 rate, including a .387 effort (15 kills, 3 errors) in Game 3. Despite 11 kills from senior hitter and former Cascade Christian High standout Kelly Clarke, the Eagles were plagued by 29 attack errors resulting in a .053 percentage — nearly 200 points below the school’s league-leading season average. Advertisement NU staked only two leads all night: 2-1 in Game 2 and 4-3 in the third stanza. Senior hitter Kristin Ferris racked up 10 kills for SOU, while junior defensive specialist Haley Phillips had 13 digs. Junior all-star setter Jamie McCreary assisted 47 of the team’s 49 kills. Northwest received a match-high 16 digs from junior libero Dayna Casseday. Southern Oregon continues a five-match homestand tonight against Evergreen State, while Northwest takes on Oregon Tech in Klamath Falls. Women’s Soccer SOUTHERN OREGON 7, CASCADE 1 — At Portland, Southern Oregon had no trouble scoring in the rout of Cascade College. The Raiders (3-6-1, 3-3 Cascade Conference) found the back of the net six times in the opening 27:13 against the winless Thunderbirds (0-8, 0-5). Freshman midfielder Kara Bradach recorded the seventh hat trick in the five-year-old program’s history, and the Tigard High product added one assist. SOU, which outshot CC 21-1, also received goalie-beaters from junior Lisa Howard, senior Marissa Gillingham, freshman Stephani Catt and freshman Brei McCoy.
