Roger Edward Kornstad Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted Jan. 20, 2015 at 2:00 AM Posted Jan. 20, 2015 at 2:00 AM » Social News Roger went home to be with his Heavenly Father, Saturday, January 3, 2015, at the age of 84. Heaven's gates were lined with loved ones; his wife, Arlene, at the center. Roger walked through the gate with that familiar mischievous grin. "What took you so long?, Arlene asked. The grin widens and his shoulders shrug. "I wasn't long." A man of few words - but when he spoke, he spoke volumes. Roger was born at the family home on Thomas Road in Medford, Ore. to Arnold and Ethel Kornstad. He grew up in the Rogue Valley with his older brother Milton. Roger remained in the valley where he met and married the love of his life, Arlene Louise Rasmussen, and raised their three boys - Dan, David, and Robert. A machinist by trade, Roger served in the Navy during the Korean war and later went on to work with Larry Juniper, Timber Products and eventually retired from 3M. After retirement, he owned and operated his own business, RK Machining & Welding. Roger was a humble outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his family. This tradition lives on in his sons who continue to enjoy these pastimes with their own families. But above all, Roger was a kind, patient, loving, loyal, wise, and witty man who loved the Lord and considered his faith, family, and friends to be among the most important things in life. In addition to his sons, Roger is survived by his daughter-in-law, Kathy Kornstad, Medford, Ore.; his daughter-in-law, Linda Kornstad, Central Point, Ore.; and his daughter-in-law, Lisa Kornstad, Medford, Ore. He is also survived by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Jessica, Andy, Ashley, Brittney, Kari, Kalin, Olivia, Lucas, Talon, Raven, Tayshaun, Aaliyah, and little Hadley. A memorial service celebrating Roger's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 23, 2015 at The First Church of the Nazarene, 1974 E. McAndrews Road, Medford, Oregon 97504, (541) 779-7777. We can hear Dad and Mom saying from their heavenly home, "Don't grieve for us! Rejoice with us and we'll see you in the morning."
